Yves DONVAL (FRA) Painter                 ( ~ Yves DONVAL, l’artiste, l’homme ~ In spite of he has made the higher school of Modern Arts in Paris, (ESAM) treating architecture and decoration, he is however an autodidact with regard to the pictorial practice. His technique leaves from "his tripe" like he says himself, and if, there is Masters who gave him the desire for painting such as Victor Vasarely, Paul Klee, Pierre Bonnard, Auguste Renoir, Edouard Manet, Picasso, we must recognize that he does not have to seek to plagiarize them or to follow them, but that, at the opposite, he has forged himself a quite personal pictorial practice, a writing we may say, very "donvalesque", original and particular... The man, after his studies, initially of tapestry, then to the ESAM, "perégrine" for discovering the world: this is more than seventeen countries in which it worked as an architect decorator, or decorator of theatre or often still in other trades... Each of his artwork is originl, single. Yves Donval refuses to be locked up eternally in a given subject. He explores before all the light, he enjoys to find the note, the point of color, sometimes the tiny detail which, from only one blow of brush, will clarify the whole of his creation... He is golds and already recognized as a landscape designer, and especially for his storms on his tempestuous seas, his traditional characters on these abstracted backgrounds, this capacity to marry abstraction and figurative realistic founded on felt the emotionnel, his glances, fabrics singing one moment of happiness to the sight of a flowered window, a mossy staircase, an ajar door or seen of an enlightened interior (Freely translated from the Sylvie ROBIN's French document) (cf.
